Grant. "Late in the administration of Andrew Johnson, Gen. Ulysses S. Grant quarreled with the President and aligned himself with the Radical Republicans. He was, as the symbol of Union victory during the Civil War, their logical candidate for President in 1868. When he was elected, the American people hoped for an end to turmoil. Grant provided neither vigor nor reform. Looking to Congress for direction, he seemed bewildered. One visitor to the White House noted "a puzzled pathos, as of a man with a problem before him of which he does not understand the terms." ~ whitehouse.govThere are no rules for this club. You may read any book or material you would like. We do offer several books at the front desk if you would like to choose one. Stories and friends gather for fun at the story time for Toddlers.  The activities are developed for ages 3 and younger.  The experience provides an environment to meet others while having fun listening to stories.  In the process they gain opportunities to develop listening skills, attention skills, learn new vocabulary and have social opportunities with other children and their parents.  The story time also has a simple craft for those who choose to participate.  Although this does not have a baby component very young children are invited for the vocabulary and socializing experience it provides.More information about the importance of talking, reading and singing to babies and young children can be found at http://www.first5california.com/services-support.aspx?id=21
